When Rainbow Brite (aka Wisp) first came to "Rainbow Land" it was not the colorful world we all know it to be now. Instead it was a dark frozen wasteland of monsters and wild beasts. It was the Pits in it's most terrifying incarnation. And the ruler of the dark land was the King of Shadows. Also known as "The Evil One", "The Dark Force", and the Evil Force, the King of Shadows attempted to destroy all hope, but he was no match for Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids.
Having recovered the lost "color belt", Wisp defeated him, sending him into the void, never to return.
