The Key to Rainbow Land was introduced in the second episode of the television show. "The Mighty Monstromurk Menace (part one)" Rainbow Brite gives the Key to Brian, and says all he needs to do is put it in any door and it will take him to Rainbow Land.

When Brian puts the key in the lock of his bedroom closet, and opens it, a bright rainbow appears and takes Brian through his reality, and to Rainbow Land. In the movie "Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer", the key loses it's power as the gloom consumes Earth from the lack of light from Spectra.
